I'm a bit updated with Russian news and I've read that Pavel Durov's brother created an IM app. For those who doesn't know Pavel Durov, he is the Mark Zuckerberg of Russia. He is the founder of Russia's #1 social networking site VK (ВКонтакте in Russian). It is said that Telegram Messenger will become a competitor to popular service WhatsApp.
